We are gaining great support from local businesses and organisations! Here are those that have pledged their support so far:

Bristol Sport’s chairman, Martin Griffiths, has recently said:

Bristol Sport Ltd. strongly supports a new station at Ashton Gate. We are currently undertaking a £45m redevelopment of Ashton Gate stadium. From 2016, it will provide a modern sports stadium capable of holding 27,000 for football and rugby matches. It will also be the largest conference and events centre in the South West of England and be in use seven days a week.

The welcome re-opening of the Portishead branch line provides an ideal opportunity to provide rail access to the stadium with the provision of a new station at Ashton Gate. A station at the favoured Baron’s Close site will provide links not only to Portishead but to Temple Meads, Weston Super Mare and Taunton.

Bristol Sport continues to invest large amounts of private money to assist in the much needed regeneration of the local area. We are at a loss to understand why a new train station is not being given urgent priority. Failure to provide it will be a serious indictment of the region’s ability to provide an integrated solution to pressing transport issues.

UWE have told us:

The University of the West of England strongly supports the proposal for an Ashton Gate Station. Our Bower Ashton arts campus with 1000 staff and students is in close proximity, and would greatly benefit from a new station. A train station alongside an integrated bus network would help connect the campus to the wider Bristol and North Somerset region, enable growth of the site and further reduce our dependency on car travel in an area of high traffic congestion.

We continue to liaise with both these local organisations and others.
